In the fall of 2010, I was a sophomore in college living at home with my family. One afternoon, alone in our music room, I sat at the piano, inspired by recent late-night prayer with God. Reflecting on those intimate moments of being stirred to pray, I began to compose what would become "Waiting." The verses and chorus flowed almost effortlessly. By the end of the session, I knew this song was a reflection of my journey, even if it never reached beyond those walls.
A few months later in 2011, a group at our church decided to record an album of original music, and we started to record my song. However, after getting the project put together, we didn't end up using the song. I felt peace about it at the time, and just figured that if it was meant to happen, then it would.
Fast forward to 2022. Over a decade later, God had just started talking with me again about writing and recording music. One day, during my prayer time, I felt like the Lord was dealing with me to record the song "Waiting" as my first release. Soon after, I learned of the free song contest being held by "The Convo" with Kurt and Colton. I decided to enter my song in the contest and was honored to win.
I am excited to share the song with everyone, and I believe it is a message meant for the church. We have been given the great commission to go into the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are called to be a people of prayer with a heart after God. Fundamentally, the call of God should propel us to reach people and point them to Jesus. I am hoping that this song provokes self-reflection and encourages listeners to answer the call to prayer, and go into the highways and hedges to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
